Description from the seller
Maria Guergova (20th century) – Abstract torso – Bronze – 1985
Description
A distinctive and expressive bronze sculpture by Maria Guergova, dated 1985.
The work shows a strongly abstracted human torso and is executed in a characteristic modernist formal language. Guergova has reduced the body to flowing, organic forms, with openings, folds, and irregular edges forming an important part of the composition.
The bronze has a warm gold-bronze patina with localized green-blue oxidation, giving the surface a lot of character and depth. The sculpture is placed on a rectangular metal/bronze-colored pedestal.
On the pedestal there is a metal identification plate bearing the name “MARIA GUERGOVA” and the dating 1985.
Artist: Maria Guergova
Year: 1985
Subject: abstract / female torso
Material: bronze / bronze alloy
Dimensions: approx. 30 cm high × 30 cm long × 15 cm deep
Period: second half of the 20th century

The sculpture is in a used vintage condition, with visible patina, oxidation, discolorations and signs of use/age. The irregular and rough edges are part of the expressive execution of the work. Please examine the photos carefully; they form an important part of the condition description.
A striking and powerful sculpture that reveals a different composition from every angle.
