Description from the seller
Crypto Rock Series - Artist portrait reconstituted as a mosaic from the artist’s photos.
David Law
Artist Photographer – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographer, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and perception of image in the urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to shop-window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later, intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectable dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Echo Waves / Echo Visions - A new reading of cultural icons
The Echo Waves / Echo Visions series offers a contemporary rereading of cultural icons through an immersive and vibrant pop art aesthetic. Each work rests on a mosaic construction made up of thousands of micro-graphic compositions. From afar, the image reveals a recognizable figure, while up close, it unveils a wealth of visual details. Each fragment acts as a “wave,” evoking the artistic universe of the depicted subject. The creation process is long and demanding, requiring precision and mastery of graphic tools. An in-depth study is carried out on colors, light and the overall harmony of the image. Everything is created originally and independently.
Edition & Manufacturing
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with a built-in rear mounting. Printed on luminous white vinyl, pressed between two aluminum plates, with soft UV- and humidity-resistant lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, great long-term stability of colors, and a modern, contemporary rendering.
Background
Since 2014, David Law has participated in about twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the designated photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. In parallel with his visual work, he develops an author’s practice and musician career including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
