A significant sculpture Perseus by Igor Mitoraj, cast in bronze with a nuanced green patina and mounted on a travertine pedestal.
The work depicts a fragmented male torso, one of the major themes in Mitoraj’s artistic vocabulary. Inspired by Greco-Roman statuary, the artist reinterprets the ancient ideal body through the fragmentation, incisions, and geometric interventions characteristic of his work.
The bronze features a patina with shades of green and brown that highlights the torso’s modeling and the richness of the surface.
Signed MITORAJ and bearing the inscription D790/1000 HC on the bronze.
