Beautiful unique sculpture by Rabarama from 2001 from which the artist also produced a painting.
This is a work in which one can appreciate a serene, yet thoughtful facial expression; the same posture of the body recalls a state of relaxation and serenity. Therefore, this sculpture conveys to the viewer a feeling of tranquility and ease.
The work is in excellent condition and is accompanied by the artist Dante Vecchiato's historical archive.

Rabarama, alias Paola Epifani, born in 1969 in Rome, Italy, is an artist who lives and works in Padua. A daughter of art, from a young age she showed a natural talent for sculpture. Rabarama began her training at the Scuola d’Arte in Treviso, then later at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. She graduated in 1991 with high marks and immediately began participating in a large number of national and international sculpture competitions, which earned her many accolades from the public and critics.
Rabarama creates sculptures and paintings with men, women or hybrid creatures, often venturing into the eccentric. The skin of the subjects created by the artist is always decorated with symbols, letters, hieroglyphs and other figures in a variety of forms. The “membrane,” the “mantle” that seems to wrap these figures constantly changes, enriching itself with new signs, symbols and metaphors. The alphabet indicates the inner limit present in language and our being singular-plural entities (according to the philosophy of Jean-Luc Nancy): hieroglyphs, puzzles and honeycombs are the visualization of the genome, the infinite possible combinations and varieties inherent in humanity, visualized in the mental labyrinths in which the multifaceted complexity of the Self is materialized. Often Rabarama’s exhibitions of her works are presented in collaboration with other artists, performers (body painting, dance, acrobatics) and are enriched by video and audio projections. Her work is considered suggestive and moving, describing all the pains and joys of the human being, from slavery to freedom, the genetic code of dreams.
“Rabarama’s art is often very aggressive, not only for the viewer, but also for the creator,” said George S. Bolge, executive director of the Museum of Art in Boca Raton, Miami, United States of America, regarding the artist’s works.
This long journey, dotted with successes, led her in 2011 to be present at the 54th Venice Biennale with the monumental work Abbandono, entirely carved in Carrara marble.
In addition to this fundamental recognition, her works have been exhibited in the world’s major capitals of the art scene such as Paris, Florence, Cannes, Miami, Shanghai, among others.
Numerous and important are moreover the acquisitions of her works by important public and private institutions such as the Beijing Biennale Art Museum, the Sculpture Space in Shanghai and the Copelouzos Museum in Athens, not to mention the three monumental works purchased by the Municipality of Reggio Calabria and exhibited along the Falcomatà seafront.
Since 2014 she has been the godmother and inspirer of the Skin Art Festival, held in Merano, collaborating with Kryolan. Recently, in 2015, Rabarama won the international competition organized by the Municipality of Vallo della Lucania (SA). Following this victory, Leud was created, the largest marble work ever created by the Artist, today exhibited in the characteristic historic center.
Also unforgettable is the artistic understanding and collaboration with Cirque du Soleil.
In 2016 Rabarama exhibited in galleries both Italian, such as the Italian Fine Art Gallery of Positano and the SimonBart Gallery in Porto Cervo, and foreign, participating in the Vught Biennale organized by Van Loon Galleries, Netherlands. In the same year she participated in the Asolo Art Biennale (TV), in Italy.
Thanks to her polyhedral talent, Rabarama experiments and realizes, over time, works in terracotta, the classic and well-known painted bronzes, fascinating unique pieces in marble, glass and rare stones, resin inclusions, resin silicone monotypes, precious artist’s jewelry and, of course, also the splendid paintings and screen prints.
Currently Rabarama lives and works in Padua, autonomously managing her career and collaborating at an international level with important art galleries in France, the Netherlands, Belgium, England, Turkey, Switzerland and the United States.
