Description from the seller
Unique photograph from my private collection of the well-known Larry Mangino.
Represents a moment of everyday urban life and street life in Madrid in the 1990s. At the exact center of the composition, surrounding the emblematic fountain of the square, you can see a group of musicians or a small street band playing percussion and wind instruments, while nearby traffic of the era passes by (with vehicles and buses characteristic of those years) and pedestrians walk along the sidewalks under the classic buildings in the heart of the capital.
This photograph is an original Artist's Proof, unique and unrepeatable. It is not part of a commercially numbered edition. The reverse bears Larry Mangino's copyright stamp and the handwritten annotation 'Proof', confirming its status as a studio-validated copy.
At the bottom there is a small handwritten note reading (89#20), probably an archival, catalog, or reference code from the author himself or his photographic fonds.
LARRY MANGINO (American, born 1956)
Photojournalist and visual artist with a long international career, known for his sharp visual chronicles and documentary work published in major media and global agencies.
Mangino's photographic work is characterized by a deep documentary sensibility and an absolute command of urban visual storytelling. Through his street-oriented gaze, Mangino transcends mere informational records to capture the human and social essence of the environment. His archives include both key moments in contemporary history (such as his renowned documentary coverage in Spain) and scenes of urban everyday life endowed with striking aesthetic power and timelessness.
