Michele Volpicella (1955) - Come mai tu...

“Come mai tu…" is a contemporary figurative work created in oil on canvas, measuring 80 × 100 cm, signed by the artist Michele Volpicella.

The work represents one of the most significant pieces in the artist’s production, both for the complexity of the composition and for the fusion of the human figure, architecture, and Mediterranean sensibilities.

In the foreground a young woman in a green dress is portrayed in a moment of contemplation and introspection, accompanied by the presence of a large bowed instrument and a terracotta jug. Behind her unfolds an articulated urban landscape composed of white houses, stairs, arches, and geometric volumes, interrupted by intense patches of red, yellow, blue and violet.

Particularly interesting is the provenance of the work: the painting was handed to me personally and directly by Michele Volpicella, at the end of the artist’s solo exhibition organized at Kalos International Art Gallery. The work thus comes directly from the relationship between the artist and the gallery, with no intermediaries.

The canvas bears the artist’s signature on the front. On the back there are also the title of the work, technique, dimensions, autograph signature of the artist, and the stamp of Archivio M. Volpicella, as documented in the photographs.

The work will be accompanied by provenance documentation available at the gallery and will be carefully packed for shipment.
