A heavy bronze vase in the champlevé technique, of Japanese origin, dating to ca. the late 19th / early 20th century, approximately 54 cm high with a 23 cm width and 15 cm depth, weighing around 4.4 kg, with a square-based Hyakusei seal mark on the base and natural patina with well-preserved enamel.

A very impressive and heavy bronze vase, produced in the traditional champlevé technique. In this technique the decorative panels are cast in relief in the solid bronze and then filled with multicolored enamel.
Decor: The body of the vase features a richly detailed relief scene with figures (possibly mythological characters or figures from folklore) in traditional dress, amidst cloud motifs and landscape elements.
Details: The neck and base are finely decorated with traditional ornaments, including ruyi motifs and floral interlacing in vivid shades of turquoise, red, green, white and blue.
Mark: On the underside there is a sunken square seal mark. The mark is Hyakusei 百整 (character mark/apocryphal mark) cast in bronze.
