Description from the seller
Arnaldo Pomodoro was born in Montefeltro in 1926, he spent his childhood and training in Pesaro. Since 1954 he lives and works in Milan. His works of the Fifties are bas-reliefs where a singular, unprecedented “writing” in sculpture emerges, which is interpreted in various ways by the leading critics. In the early Sixties he tackled tridimensionality and developed research into the forms of solid geometry: spheres, discs, pyramids, cones, columns, cubes -in polished bronze- are gouged, corroded, hollowed to their innermost core, with the aim of breaking their perfection and discovering the mystery contained within. The formal contrast between the smooth perfection of the geometric form and the chaotic complexity of the interior will henceforth be a constant in Pomodoro's production.
Emblematic and very rare work of the master, the visual and technical quality employed for the work are of exceptional level.
The edition number might not correspond to the number in the photograph.
The provenance of the work is from the Galleria Grafica Manzoni, which issues its certificate of authenticity.
