· The Beatus of Manchester passed from Spain to France in 1869, sold at auction in Paris with other books from the collection of the Marquis of Astorga and the Count of Altamira.

· Written in late Caroline-Prefogate script (late Carolingian-pre Gothic).

· Contains 123 full-page miniatures illuminated with gold and silver.

· Commentary on the Apocalypse of Saint John written by Beato de Liébana, an Asturian monk, in the year 776. The various manuscripts that transmit the “Commentary on the Apocalypse” were illustrated in various monasteries during the 10th, 11th and 12th centuries; they are luxury copies decorated for kings and magnates.

· Certainly, from the point of view of its illustrations, this is the most sumptuous Beatus of all that exist, the only complete one since none of its folios have been mutilated; for its perfect understanding, it is accompanied by an art book that includes a codicological and iconographic study by Prof. Dr. Peter K. Klein.

· Codex bound in leather on panel with bronze clasps and fittings.
