Dunhill - Table lighter - Brass, Acrylic

Rare vintage Alfred Dunhill Aquarium table lighter, made in England, circa 1950s.

One of Dunhill’s most distinctive mid-century designs, the Aquarium series was developed around 1950 and is known for its clear acrylic body with hand-carved and reverse-painted underwater decoration.

The fish and aquatic scenery appear suspended within the transparent body, creating a strong three-dimensional effect when viewed from different angles. Each original Aquarium lighter was individually decorated, so no two examples are exactly alike.

This example features multiple colourful fish and underwater plants, with the original Dunhill lift-arm lighter mechanism.

Condition:
Original vintage condition with age-related wear, oxidation and patina. There is an internal crack within the acrylic body near the upper edge beneath the lighter mechanism, with no visible chip or loss to the exterior surface.
