Lucyna Patalita (born in 1955) – Interpretation of a Van Gogh drawing, 1986

Important oil on canvas measuring 66 × 100 cm, executed in 1986 by the Polish artist Lucyna Patalita.

The work offers a very personal reinterpretation of a drawing by Vincent van Gogh, with a composition structured around a tree-lined avenue. The pictorial matter is worked in a luminous palette dominated by blues, greens, light greys and pinkish touches, giving the whole a mood that is at once gentle, vibrant and highly decorative.

The painting is distinguished by its large format, particularly interesting for a work from this period, as well as by its immediately identifiable character and strong wall presence.

On the back there is an old label from the gallery P.P. Sztuka Polska – Galeria Sztuki, ul. Floriańska 34, handwritten. It mentions:
Lucyna Patalita, the title Interprétation d’un dessin de Van Gogh, the technique oil on canvas, the dimensions 100 × 66 cm as well as the year 1986.

This label constitutes a particularly important provenance element and documents the work directly in its historical context.

The work is kept on its original stretcher and presented with its simple frame, which nicely highlights the composition.
