A multidisciplinary photographer, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence and the perception of images in urban space. He first became known for a series devoted to window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Later drawn to the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continued this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. With this series, David Law dives into pared-down, dark universes, inhabited by spectral silhouettes suspended in air. These indistinct, almost erased presences drift through strange landscapes where emptiness becomes matter. Through a visual language built with contemporary graphic tools, the artist explores the notions of isolation, trace and memory. A silent crossing, at the edge of the visible and the invisible.
Edition & Manufacture
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by an authenticity certificate. The prints are made on aluminum with a built-in rear mounting. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
