This black-and-white photograph was taken in spring 2026, in the heart of the French Pyrenees, around Payolle lake. It belongs to the series The Forest, a photographic exploration where the landscape becomes a mental space, between presence, memory, and disappearance.

Agathe Toman is a French artist born in 1989. A multidisciplinary artist, she develops a practice blending drawing, painting, photography, poetry and sculpture around the links between landscape, psyche and memory.
After studies at the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne and several years as a stylist with Parisian haute couture houses, she chose to devote herself entirely to her artistic practice.
Her works are present in numerous private collections in Europe, the United States and Asia. She has been listed on Sotheby’s since 2021, where several of her works have been auctioned. Her work has notably been presented at Art Paris and published in media such as Forbes, L’Œil and ELLE.
Through her photographs, Agathe Toman seeks less to document reality than to reveal what eludes it. Her images question our relationship to memory, to living beings, and to internal landscapes. Between abstraction and figuration, they invite the viewer to a contemplative experience where each person can project their own story.
