This work is part of Agathe Toman's “PARTAGED COLLECTION.”
Photographed in Rome, Italy, in spring 2026, this photograph is distinguished by its highly visible grain, deliberately preserved and enhanced during printing. It gives the image a particular texture and blurs the boundary between photography and painting: from a distance or up close, the work can almost be seen as a painting.
This pictorial dimension lies at the heart of Agathe Toman's photographic practice. The photograph is not conceived here as a mere restitution of reality, but as an entity in its own right: grain, light, textures and flat areas transform the image until it approaches abstraction.
Very high-quality Fine Art pigment print on glossy photographic paper, capable of rendering full depth of blacks, nuances, and the image’s distinctive texture.
The work is numbered and hand-signed by Agathe Toman, on the front and the back.
It will be shipped unframed, carefully rolled, accompanied by its certificate of authenticity completed and signed by the artist.
About the artist
Born in 1989, Agathe Toman is a French multidisciplinary artist whose practice traverses painting, drawing, photography and writing.
Trained at the École de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne, she began her career in fashion, notably at Saint Laurent and Maison Rodier. At twenty-five, she left fashion to devote herself entirely to her art.
Her work has been shown notably at Art Paris Art Fair at the Grand Palais in Paris, at DDessin Paris, as well as in galleries in France and abroad. Her works have been auctioned at Sotheby’s since 2021, in Paris and Cologne, and today appear in numerous international private collections. In 2025, one of her drawings joined the BIC Foundation collection.
Her work is built around what, in experience, precedes understanding. Painting, drawing and photography become different ways of bringing forth the same thing: a sensation, a tension, an inner state or a perception of life.
In her photographs, Agathe Toman particularly seeks moments when reality ceases to be immediately identifiable. Grain, matter, light and framing progressively tilt the photographic image toward a nearly painted perception. The photograph thus becomes less the representation of a place and more the emergence of a form.
