Satsuma koro from the workshop of Senzan.

The image shows a daimyo procession, which was a political ritual from the Edo period (1603-1868).
To preserve their power, the Tokugawa Shogunate required all feudal lords (daimyō) to travel to the capital Edo (today Tokyo) every year to serve at the court there.
Meanwhile, their families had to live permanently in Edo as a kind of hostages.
Central to the procession you see the noble lord (daimyō) proudly mounted on horseback. He wears ceremonial attire and is surrounded by his most loyal warriors.
In front of and behind the horse walk samurai, heralds and bearers.

The koro is in perfect condition. Height is 15 cm, diameter 11.5 cm.
It weighs 580 grams.

De afbeelding toont een Daimyo processie, dat was een politiek ritueel uit de Edo periode ( 1603-1868 ).
Om hun macht te behouden, verplichtte het Tokugawa-shogunaat alle feodale heren (daimyo's) om om het jaar naar de hoofdstad Edo (het huidige Tokio) te reizen om daar aan het hof te dienen.
Hun gezinnen moesten ondertussen als een soort gijzelaars permanent in Edo blijven wonen.
Centraal in de processie zie je de adellijke heer (daimyo) hoog te paard zitten. Hij draagt ceremoniële kleding en wordt omringd door zijn trouwste krijgers.
Voor en achter het paard lopen samoerai, herauten en dragers. 

De Koro is in een perfecte staat. De hoogte is 15 cm, de diameter is 11,5 cm.
Het gewicht is 580 gram.
