Brief biographical note of the artist
Mario Soave
Mario Soave was born in Forte dei Marmi (Lucca) in 1955 and lives and works in Tuscany;
He approached painting at a very young age and, at only 13 years old, won his first national competition. After high school of art he attended the Academy of Fine Arts of Carrara, where in 1979 he graduated with the highest honors.
His early work falls within the Neo-figuration, but progressively his research focuses mainly on landscape, which became the characteristic theme of his output. Tuscany, with its fields, olive trees, cypresses, flowers and sea views, is interpreted not so much in a strictly naturalistic way as through color, light and atmosphere, with a strongly lyrical component.
Throughout his career he has exhibited in numerous Italian cities and abroad, with documented appearances in France, Germany, Spain, England, the United States, Latin America, China, Russia and New Zealand. His works are present in private and public collections and have also passed through the art market.
Among the recognitions is recalled a career award received in Reggio Calabria, presented by the jury chaired by Vittorio Sgarbi.
In short: Soave is above all a post-impressionist/contemporary landscape painter of a figurative matrix, concerned with transforming the real landscape into a kind of “landscape of the soul,” through light and color rather than through an analytic description of nature.
Thank you.
