"When in 2014 my aunt Eliane passed away to join her beloved teddy bear, my uncle, on the other side, being her 'only parent', I chose, from four framed paintings that I knew well, the one I would keep for life — they had accompanied me on Thursday afternoons and Sundays since I was a child… But what was I going to do with them?
By their nature, aesthetically questionable to my taste, unimaginable to hang on my walls, no, I wouldn’t throw them away either, their sentimental charge prevented me, it would be sacrilege!!!!
They would gather dust in a corner of the workshop until we were swallowed by the waves, because that’s what will happen if we don’t move our asses, but I digress, sorry… The situation seemed blocked, at least until…
… And that’s how the idea for this series "Pimp My Croûte" came to me, give a new meaning to these paintings, revive them, that’s the idea!
After customizing the first four, I continued on my quest, scavenging here and there, the most tacky, failed or unfinished canvases I could find…
By giving them a new life, I wanted to tell a little story in each frame, guided by a random instinct, aesthetic or frankly caricatural, with always a touch of sensuality that I cherish and that will not surprise those who know my work… It is also a tribute to the Sunday painters, without contempt or pretension, after all, one of those who inspired me most, Clovis Trouille, defined himself as a Sunday painter.

Tristam is a French all-around and hyperactive artist, an icon of Paris punk in the 1980s. He was a member of the founding collective of painters “Les musulmans fumants” which brought together six artists from 1980 to 1990. Since 1992, he has worked as an independent painter.

The trademark of Tristam lies in his insatiable curiosity. Hungry for new experiences, the artist paints in the same way he lives daily: with passion, with vigor and with rage. His works blend the codes of street art, illustration, pop culture and the ones he forged himself throughout his career. A true ode to life and its pleasures, his canvases are sensual and explosive.

Pascal Dequatremare, better known under the pseudonym Tristam Nada, died at the age of 68. He had notably sung the 80s hit "Bonne bonne humeur ce matin".

This Wednesday, Paris Match learned of the death of Pascal Dequatremare, aka Tristam Nada, a pop-rock singer who performed the enormous hit taught in middle and high school classrooms in the 80s, "Bonne bonne humeur ce matin". It is unclear whether in the paradise of performers there is “too many Parisians and not enough Parisians,” but the death of Tristam Nada (who had signed the hit under the name Tristan, Ed.) plunges us into nostalgia for discovering the first clips — here directed by Mathieu Kassovitz with Vincent Cassel as an extra and with many creations by the singer.
Accomplished artist, Tristam Nada began in punk music, with the group Guilty Razors, before diving into street art with the pioneering collective Les Musulmans fumants in the early 80s.
