"De mens", is a beautiful painting by Anton Heyboer in oil, acrylic and etching-ground on canvas.

“For man, God exists.” The animal is with God, but man must himself ensure that God is with him. The man in this painting holds a stone as a symbol of the wounding of his soul: the blood clots and becomes hard, he can defend himself and uphold himself.
