Description from the seller
Salvador Dali:
“Banlieu de la Ville Paranoiaque Aprèss-Midi sur la Lisière de l’Histoire Européenne, 1936”.
Authorized offset lithograph.
Condition: the work is in very good condition.
Format: 100 x 50 cm.
This painting is a well-known surrealist work by the Spanish artist Salvador Dalí, titled "Suburbs of a Paranoiac-Critical Town, Afternoon on the Outskirts of European History" (1936).
It is also known as "Banlieue de la Ville".
The painting is a classic example of Dalí’s 'paranoiac-critical method', in which he tries to structure irrational knowledge through dreamlike, often unsettling imagery.
A young woman (often identified as his wife Gala) stands at the center of the landscape.
The work contains typical Dalí elements such as a skull, classical architecture (a red building with a dome on the left) and a deep, desolate landscape that recalls his homeland in Catalonia.
Never framed and kept in a dark archive storage between protective acid-free paper.
The displayed photos are part of the description.
