Japanese tangular Tokkuri Bottles – c. 1680

A fine blue and white rectangular tokkuri bottles, dating to circa 1680.

The bottles is beautifully decorated on each side with tree peony issuing from rockwork on grassy banks, while the chamfered shoulders are adorned with scrolling karakusa decoration.

An elegant example of early Japanese blue and white porcelain, with a distinctive rectangular form and traditional botanical theme.
