Jan Roëde (Groningen, 1914 – The Hague, 2007) was a Dutch painter and draftsman who worked for most of his life in The Hague. At the outset of World War II he chose to pursue the artist's profession and received painting instruction from Willem Hussem. His early work was still realist in character; he later abandoned this pictorial language.
After his first exhibition in 1945 at Kunsthandel Liernur in The Hague, Roëde was invited to the traveling exhibition Twaalf Schilders, which was shown, among others, at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. He was active within the progressive Hague art milieu of the postwar years and in 1947 participated in the exhibition Experimentelen van de Haagsche Kunstkring.
