With this square-format work, Medsan stages a kitsune, the spirit-lynx? actually a nine-tailed fox from Japanese folklore, singing at full volume in a neon-lit karaoke box, a crystal ball and Hokusai's The Great Wave on the screen.

The treatment adopts the style of contemporary manga illustration: clean line, saturated colors, a red and white kimono with wavy patterns, nine blazing tails unfurled throughout the room. The furnishings are populated with details — table full of glasses and tambourine, edamame, remote control, violet upholstered walls. The neon sign メドサン signs the piece.

The piece makes the mythological creature converse with today’s Japanese pop culture. The kitsune, mischievous and seductive spirit of ancestral legends, yields to the truly real pleasure of a karaoke night — sacred and profane, myth and daily life, united in a single glow of joy.
