Sonny Boy Williamson I and II were two legendary 20th-century American blues harmonica players and singers who, despite sharing the same stage name, were not related.

Sonny Boy Williamson I (John Lee Williamson) – Lifespan: March 30, 1914 – June 1, 1948 was born in Tennessee, he made his mark in Chicago. He is considered as the pioneer who first established the blues harp as a solo instrument.

Sonny Boy Williamson II (Aleck "Rice" Miller) – Lifespan: Circa 1912 – May 25, 1965 (birth date uncertain) was born in Mississippi and best known for the *King Biscuit Time* radio program in Arkansas and later recordings with Chess Records. Around 1941, Aleck Miller also began calling himself Sonny Boy Williamson, purely to capitalize on the success and fame of the already popular John Lee Williamson. After the first Sonny Boy died in 1948, Miller continued to use the name and built a massive reputation under it.
