In this vertical format, Medsan places Neon Genesis Evangelion's Eva-01 standing above a Japanese alley, arms along the body, the horned helmet turned downward, eyes fixed on the tiny silhouette waiting below. On a humped wooden bridge, Shinji Ikari stands alone, in a blue and white suit, head tilted toward the mecha. The late-afternoon sky shifts from deep purple to orange, and the sun descends just behind the snow-capped Mount Fuji, at the far end of the street. On either side, two-story wooden facades, timber towers, a pagoda on the right, and garlands of red and yellow lanterns stretched across the alley with overhead power lines. Under the bridge, the canal reflects the fading light; a pine branch occupies the lower right corner, where two cicadas settle on the bark. The mecha's body plays with violet, vivid green, and orange. In the upper-right corner, the Medsan cartouche accompanies two red-character panels. Medsan and Popsan are two signatures of the same artist. Under the name Medsan, he explores the world of medicine and anatomy; under the name Popsan, he revisits pop culture icons by blending pop art, Japanese art, and anachronisms. On Catawiki, his pop works still appear under the name Medsan, but they belong to the Popsan universe.
