Highly collectible Japanese promotional edition of David Bowie's landmark Aladdin Sane, issued by EMI as part of The David Bowie Series under catalogue number TOCP-65309. This is the genuine PROMO / NOT FOR SALE version, identified by the promotional marking printed around the inner ring of the CD. The album was originally recorded during 1972 at Trident Studios and RCA Studios in London, as well as RCA Studios in Nashville. This edition was digitally remastered at Abbey Road Studios, London in 1999, representing a significant technical refresh of the original material. The title Aladdin Sane is a play on "A Lad Insane," and the album represents Bowie pushing the Ziggy-era sound into a darker, more theatrical direction, with Mike Garson's avant-garde piano on the title track becoming one of the most distinctive performances in Bowie's catalogue. The complete Japanese edition comes with the original OBI, sixteen-page booklet and folded Japanese lyric and information insert—a compelling package for serious collectors of Bowie's discography.
