Elegant silver cigarette case from the Art Deco period, most probably made in Germany around 1920–1935.
The cigarette case is made of silver of assay 835/1000 and weighs 68.31 g. Both sides are decorated with a precise, geometric guilloché pattern, typical of early 20th-century design.
On the front there is a smooth cartouche with an ornately engraved, interwoven monogram of the owner — the initials are most likely read as "CL" or "LC".
Inside there are silver hallmarks, including a clear assay mark 835 and additional, partly rubbed punches. One of the marks most probably corresponds to the German crescent and crown hallmark used on German silver wares. Also visible is a workshop/manufacturer mark, which could not be unambiguously attributed to a specific silversmith.
Inside, the number "34" is also stamped, probably a workshop or assembly number. It cannot be stated that this denotes the year 1934.
Both internal straps that hold the cigarettes are preserved. The item shows natural signs of use and patina appropriate to its age.
