Cornelis Jan Mension's Vossen familie, a Realist lithography on paper from circa 1920, signed in pencil and in the plate as an Artist's Proof (E.A.) in a limited edition, measuring 60 x 50 cm (frame included) and produced in the Netherlands in good condition.

Mension, Cornelis Jan
Cornelis Jan Mension (monogram: CJM joined) was born on 11 March 1882 in Delft and died there on 2 May 1950.
Mension pursued an artistic education at the The Hague Royal Academy of Art. He was, among others, a pupil of Frans Helfferich and Frits Jansen (1856-1928). He later became the teacher of Dirk Jan van Arum, Charles Albert Cocheret, Carl Albert Feldmann, Alida Sophia Hendriks and Hendrikus J. Martinus van Weert.
Mension was both a graphic artist and a painter, draftsman and lithographer.
A multitude of subjects (apes, animal- and bird-scapes, cats and figure subjects, landscapes, (self-)portraits and cityscapes) are known from him.
As an artist he worked mainly in Delft and The Hague, but also in Belgium.
Cornelis Jan was a member of Arti et Amicitiae in Amsterdam, of Pulchri Studio in The Hague and of the Society for Fine Arts De Kring in Delft.
