André Lanskoy (1902-1976) - Journal d’un fou

André Lanskoy is a Franco-Russian painter and printmaker, a major figure of lyrical abstraction and the New School of Paris. Born in Moscow in 1902, he settled in France in the 1920s and mingled with the great artists of his time. Initially influenced by figurative painting, he gradually evolved toward a free abstraction, characterized by colored shapes, spontaneous signs, and a rich gestural vocabulary.

Close to Nicolas de Staël in particular and in dialogue with the explorations of the Parisian avant-garde, Lanskoy develops a personal language where color becomes the principal means of expression. His work includes paintings, collages, tapestries, and prints, today sought after by collectors.
