A depiction of mandarin ducks by Keinen Imao. It is a single sheet color woodblock print, from the 1891 (Meiji 24) edition of the multi-color collection 『Miyako no Nishiki』.
A delicate bird-and-flower scene with two mandarin ducks prominently arranged resting on the grass. The brilliant plumage of the foreground bird and the sight of the bird in the back burying its head in its feathers are striking, and the feather layers and the fine lines on the chest are rendered carefully. In the upper left there is a seal bearing the name "Keinen" along with a red seal.
