Vintage Japanese Hand-Carved Wooden Hannya Mask – Natural Grain Timber Demon Sculpture with Red Tassels for Japandi Wall Art
【Description】
An exceptionally fine vintage hand-carved wooden Japanese Noh/Kagura mask (Omen), portraying Hannya—the iconic female demon spirit transformed by tragic jealousy and passion.
Iconography & Artisanal Grain Craftsmanship:
Prominent Natural Wood Grain: Masterfully carved to emphasize the dense, undulating natural grain rings (Uzukuri / grain-relief finish) of fine solid timber, which flow rhythmically across the cheeks, brow, and horns without heavy painted pigments.
Classic Hannya Features:
Captures the emotional intensity of Hannya with sharp curved horns, furrowed brow lines, hollowed eyes, and a wide open jaw revealing carved teeth and fangs.
Traditional Crimson Tassels:
Fitted on both sides with vibrant red silk cords and tassels (Fusa), providing a striking color contrast against the warm, organic wood tone.
Contemporary Interior Display:
With its highly organic aesthetic and refined woodcraft, this piece serves as a sophisticated focal sculpture for modern Japandi entryways, minimal gallery walls, or executive study spaces.
