Biography of painter Nguyen Robert, born 1958.
Born in 1958 in Ben Tre, an authentic village nestled in the heart of the Mekong Delta, Nguyen Robert is a Franco-Vietnamese artist whose work stands out for a singular fusion between Asian traditions and Western artistic influences. From a young age he was fascinated by the rural architecture of his environment, the lines of traditional houses, the volumes of floating markets, the shadows cast by water palms—elements that would become the basis of his visual language.

Having always lived in his homeland region, Nguyen Robert over the decades developed a deeply contemporary, modern, and decisively architectural style. His paintings explore structures, lines, urban rhythms, and geometric abstraction, while preserving a poetic sensibility rooted in Vietnamese culture.

His Franco-Vietnamese heritage enriches his approach: he borrows from the West the rigour of modern compositions and the boldness of contrasts, while his Vietnamese soul infuses gentleness, spirituality, and fluidity into his works. The result is a pictorial universe where modernity meets the timeless, where geometry dialogues with light, creating works of great visual power.

Recognized for his ability to transform everyday life into abstract landscapes, Nguyen Robert is today regarded as one of the singular voices of contemporary painting in the Mekong Delta.
