Excellent specimen of the famous monograph devoted to Marc Chagall, written by the essayist André Pieyre de Mandiargues and published by the prestigious Maeght Éditeur in Paris in 1974.
The main attraction of this collectible volume is that it contains inside the original two-page color lithograph titled "Le fleuve vert." This graphic work was specially created by Marc Chagall for this monograph and printed under his supervision in the legendary Fernand Mourlot workshops in Paris. As an original lithograph conceived specifically to be integrated into the edition, the piece features the original central fold from the edition (as published). It is fully cataloged in international reference manuals under Mourlot nos. 728 and Cramer no. 95. The lot includes the complete book, serving as unequivocal proof of provenance and authenticity for the lithograph.
The lithograph is professionally framed with a mat.
