The Viennese art historian Karl Swoboda organized concerts at his home in 1920. One of the attendees was the artist Oskar Kokoschka. While listening, he drew 20 chalk portraits of two women in the audience; one was Kamilla Swoboda, Karl's wife. The surname of Madeleine—a regular listener at these recitals—is unknown.
