Montblanc - Honorè De Balzac - Fountain pen

Montblanc's Writers Edition 2013 is a prestigious limited series dedicated to the famed French writer Honoré de Balzac. As in every limited edition from the Maison, in this case too the details pay tribute to the personality and oeuvre of the celebrated author. Balzac's initials are finely incised, in a typeface typical of the era, on the solid 750‑gold nib. The decorative rings of the pen represent the three main French social classes of the 19th century, masterfully described in La Comédie humaine: the top ring of the cap, sumptuous and adorned with gold finishes, symbolizes nobility; the middle ring represents the bourgeoisie, while the simple ring placed on the section alludes to the less affluent classes. The design and form of the pen reflect Balzac's imposing figure and style. The pen's section, in particular, evokes the pointed-toe shoes the writer was accustomed to wearing. The dark gray tones of the lacquered body, alternating with refined decorative lines on the cap, evoke the author's everyday attire. To complete the tribute, Balzac's signature is elegantly incised on the cap, making every detail of this edition a genuine and refined homage.
