Elegant and distinctive Brebbia Rickert Design pipe, made in Italy from fine Erica Arborea briar, part of the Brebbia Grand Designers series.
The visible stamp on the bowl reads “BREBBIA – FRICKERT DESIGN – HAND MADE IN ITALY.” The model can be traced to the collaboration with German designer Holger Frickert, one of the names associated with Brebbia’s Grand Designers series.
The pipe features a deep Rocciata-style rustic finish, with a three-dimensional surface and very marked workmanship. The chamber is wide and well-proportioned, while the black acrylic mouthpiece has a tapered shape and a particularly elegant line. The ensemble is completed by a natural wood-toned insert/ band that creates a pleasant contrast with the black mouthpiece and with the briar.
The Rickert Design model appears in Brebbia/Dan Pipe catalogs of the Grand Designers series; a 2008 catalog entry indicates for Frickert Design Rocciata the reference 0127-2002 and specifies that the model derives from a handcrafted pipe made by Holger Frickert in 2002.
Dating
Approximately 2002–2008, with 2002 as the most probable design/documentation reference for this model.
