Kurt Meyer-Eberhardt (1895-1977) - Pferdekopf im Profil

For sale: an original etching by the renowned German animal painter and graphic artist Kurt Meyer-Eberhardt (1895 Leipzig – 1977 Munich). Meyer-Eberhardt studied at the Weimar Art School with Lyonel Feininger, Max Thedy, and Walther Klemm, declined a professorship in Weimar, and in Munich dedicated himself entirely to animal depiction. Since 1917 his etchings were published by Franz Hanfstaengl Verlag (Munich, London, New York).

The plate shows impressively the head of a horse in profile — with the finest hatching technique the coat texture, gaze, and expression of the animal are captured. At bottom left is noted "Original Radierung", bottom right is hand-signed by the artist. At bottom left on the sheet additionally the sheet number "174" is noted.

The sheet is unframed, with a visible irregular laid edge — a sign of high-quality, hand-made paper and a careful original impression.

Condition: Age-appropriate, very good preserved, laid edge fully present
