“Basket of Fruits” is a 100 × 70 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García.

The work presents a still life featuring an abundant selection of fruits arranged on a table covered by a red checked tablecloth. A basket made of natural fibers occupies the background of the composition and gathers citrus fruits and other fruits, while in the foreground there appear a pineapple, pomegranate, kiwi, lemon and different pieces carefully distributed among plates and glass containers.

The composition stands out for the contrast between the intense red of the cloth and the turquoise blue background. On these large color fields appear luminous yellows, oranges and greens that turn the fruits into the main focal points. The basket introduces earth tones and a warm texture that balance the intensity of the whole.

The visible, energetic brushwork, together with the simplification of forms and the expressive use of color, show echoes of Fauvism.
