Original 2026 acrylic painting by E. García titled Café y cigarrillo XL, 100 × 70 cm in multicolour Fauvist style, depicting a woman in a café, signed by hand and sold directly by the artist with a certificate.
Description from the seller
“Café y cigarrillo” is a 100 × 70 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García.
The work presents an everyday scene set inside a café. In the foreground, a woman remains seated before a cup of coffee while holding a cigarette between her fingers. Her figure dominates the composition and directs attention toward a simple, calm gesture, capturing one of those moments of waiting and observation characteristic of urban life.
The space around her is built with tables, chairs, and other figures barely defined in the background. This simplification keeps the portrait's protagonism while suggesting the movement and activity of the establishment. The woman's gaze, slightly diverted, introduces a sense of introspection and distance from what is happening around her.
The palette combines blues, turquoises, and deep greens in the main figure with yellows, oranges, reds, and violets inside. The face is modeled with non-naturalistic color zones, with greens, yellows, and pinks replacing traditional shading and reinforcing the painting's expressive character.
Visible brushwork, the simplification of forms, and freedom in chromatic treatment show echoes of fauvism. The color does not merely describe the scene; it organizes space and builds its atmosphere.
“Café y cigarrillo” turns a quotidian moment into a portrait of intimate and urban character, centered on that brief pause that passes between a cup of coffee, a cigarette, and the thoughts of its protagonist.
