An extraordinary and iconic work by Mario Schifano (1934–1998), one of the absolute pioneers of European Pop Art and of the Piazza del Popolo School. This piece belongs to his famous and highly sought-after series of “Tele/Computerized Photos,” hand-retouched photographs taken from television screens. Schifano isolates a transient media image, transforming an ephemeral TV broadcast into a lyrical and permanent artistic statement through dynamic and energetic strokes of colored enamel. A conceptually impactful work, worthy of a museum, that perfectly reflects Schifano’s obsession with contemporary media and visual flows. The work is archived at the Archive of Mario Schifano’s works cataloged at the M.S.
