Description from the seller
“Magico d’oriente” is an original and spectacular oil painting by Neapolitan artist Antonio Pirozzi. It is a surrealist work, better defined as magical surrealism or the surreal of the absurd, where fantastical figures with peculiar costumes, dreamlike nocturnal landscapes, musical instruments, and extravagant animals evoke particular fairy-tale atmospheres imbued with spirituality and philosophy whose origin lies in a certain Oriental literature and in the so-called theatre of the absurd. Here, indeed, the reverse of logic is depicted, not so much arising from dreams or the subconscious, but rather from a game of fantasy in which all connections are carefully chosen to build a plot. Beautiful, fascinating, rich in bright colors that evoke magical and mysterious places, the work measures 70 cm in height by 60 cm in width by 2 cm in thickness, and is shipped via SDA express courier of Poste Italiane or GLS; delivery times are: for Italy 2–3 days; abroad 5–6 days. On the back, attached to the artwork, is the certificate of authenticity and the artist’s professional stamp. Antonio Pirozzi, born in Giugliano in Campania near Naples, is an architect and painter. He trained within the sphere of Neapolitan surrealist and metaphysical painters, among whom we mention Antonio Nunziante. The canvases crystallize dreamlike and unreal atmospheres, compositions of notable poetic quality, built on absurd juxtapositions that seem to recall the realm of the subconscious and the arcane. He currently lives and works in Mugnano di Napoli.
