A charming tall six-panel Japanese folding screen 屏風 (byôbu) with a lively painting of everyday life during the Edo period.
The extensive composition presents numerous small scenes of townspeople engaged in seasonal activities, leisure and daily pursuits, spread among traditional houses, gardens, pine trees and winding streams. Stylized bands of clouds divide the different scenes.
