Description from the seller
Piet Mondriaan:
“Composition with Red, Black, Yellow, Blue and Grey, 1921”.
Signed and dated on the plate.
Authorized color offset litho, with high color intensity.
Condition: the work is in excellent condition.
After his experiments with cubism, Piet Mondrian in 1920 developed his own style, which he called 'neoplasticism'. The aesthetic goal of this style was a composition based on contrasts, which meant that paintings often contained both vertical and horizontal lines and shades, in addition to primary colors.
Before he painted 'Composition Mondrian Red Black Yellow Blue and Grey' he worked with checkerboard patterns, creating a greater variety of rectangle sizes and different gray tones in this artwork.
Never framed and kept in a dark archival storage between protective acid-free paper.
The shown photos are part of the description,
the shown frame(size) is for illustration and is not included.
