The etching collection (consisting of 8 copper etchings) combines black-and-white and color etchings in a series that links the abstract and the figurative. This work concerns a black-and-white copper etching.
Raveel’s work is characterized by the play with light, everyday objects, and more poetic, philosophical themes. These elements align with the title: the “nothing” and the “light” refer to existential and visual contrasts, while the “things” pertain to the material objects and scenes with which he often worked. The 'nothing' can be read as a reference to emptiness or silence; the 'light' as a principle of perception, clarity, or presence; and the 'things' as concrete objects or moments from life — terms that Raveel often places in opposition to each other to show the tension between abstraction and reality.
This work fits within Raveel’s broader vision in which everyday perception and existential questions merge into poetic art.
Editions like these have become collector’s objects and occasionally appear at auctions or in art dealing, sometimes with substantial prices because they are hand-signed and in limited editions.
