We present at auction a vibrant "Abstract Composition" dated 2022, created by Silvio Formichetti, one of the most interesting and coherent interpreters of Informalism and Abstract Expressionism in the Italian contemporary painting scene.
In this work, the artist releases his expressive urgency through a savvy and material use of acrylic on canvas. The composition is dominated by a gestural dynamism of strong emotional impact, where color fields, drips and lightning-fast strokes overlap and chase each other across the surface. Silvio Formichetti (Pratola Peligna, L'Aquila, 1969) is an Italian painter whose visual research sits within the great tradition of European Informal Art and American Action Painting, reinterpreted through a completely personal and contemporary sensibility.
He began his artistic path exploring figuration, but from the late 1990s he matured a decisive turn toward abstraction. His language focuses on psychic automatism and gesturality, turning the canvas into an arena where color becomes a pure vehicle of energy and emotion. His works, characterized by an impetuous yet lyrical and rigorously balanced gesturality, have attracted the attention of the critical scene from early on.
