This guitar bears the label Guitarras Artesanas Antonio Fernández (Model C-III). It was manufactured in the early 2000s in Spain, in the Levante region (Valencian Community), an area with a long tradition in the making of classical and Spanish guitars.

The Antonio Fernández firm was created to offer study and conservatory guitars within the Spanish guitar-making tradition. Its catalogs were organized in numbered series (such as lines C-I, C-II or C-III) with the aim of providing students and hobbyists with an instrument that reflects the aesthetics, proportions, and warmth of the traditional Andalusian design.

Wood and Construction

Top: Made from fine-veneer spruce with straight grain, accompanied by a decorative artisan mosaic around the soundhole.

Sides and back: Built from rosewood (palosanto), giving it a dark, elegant grain that is very characteristic, finished with a central profile on the back.

Finish: Gloss varnish that enhances the wood’s natural tones and protects the body from environmental changes.

Estado de Conservación

Structure: The soundbox, bridge, and top remain firm, with no cracks or deformations in the wood.

Aesthetic details: It shows small signs of use and minor cracks in the varnish at the heel area (base of the neck) on the edges of the rim and tailblock due to age, but they do not affect the sound or its structure.

Sonido

Its timbre stands out as very bright, clear, and well defined. The choice of spruce for the soundboard provides a sharp, clean attack with great clarity in the notes, allowing each melody to resonate directly and project.
