Antique French cigarette / cheroot holder with monogrammed mount and original fitted case – Belle Époque, circa 1880–1910

An attractive antique French cigarette or cheroot holder, dating approximately from the late 19th to early 20th century.

The holder is made from a translucent honey/olive-coloured material with the appearance of amber, although the material has not been professionally tested and is therefore offered as amber or amber-like material.

It is decorated with an ornate gold-coloured shield/cartouche bearing a decorative monogram, giving the piece a particularly elegant Belle Époque appearance.

The holder comes in its original fitted burgundy presentation case. The interior of the case is marked “Or Contrôlé – Garantie”.

The metal decoration has not been independently tested for gold content, so no guarantee is made that it is solid gold.

The cigarette holder shows age-related patina and signs of previous use, including some wear/residue around the wider end. The original case also has wear consistent with its age. Please refer carefully to the photographs as they form an important part of the description.

A lovely survivor from the Belle Époque period and an appealing piece for a collector of antique smoking accessories, French objets de vertu or period accessories.
