The item presents a very satisfactory overall condition, especially considering its age, preserving an attractive aesthetics and fully functional.

The body and cap in marbled celluloid maintain a nice pattern with good depth of color. Signs of use typical of the passage of time are evident, mainly micro-scratches on the surface and a slight loss of shine in some areas, with no cracks or visible deformations. The engraving on the barrel (“Waterman’s Ideal”) is present, though softened, something common in pieces from this period.

The gold-plated metal elements, such as the clip, the ring, and the filling lever, retain a good overall presence. Wear is observed on the plating, especially on the clip, where use has dulled the original gold, without affecting its structural functionality.

The lever-fill system has been inspected and works correctly, allowing efficient ink charging and immediate use.

The original Waterman’s Ideal nib in 14K gold is in good condition, with no appreciable deformations, correct alignment, and a smooth writing feel. It shows wear consistent with its historical use, maintaining optimal performance.
