Meta Plückebaum (1876-1945) - Kat / poes met kindje

This is an original small etching by the famous German female artist Meta Plückebaum (1876 Dortmund - 1945 Düsseldorf). She painted and etched in the late 19th and the first half of the 20th century in Düsseldorf, and alongside portraits of people she produced many animal portraits, especially of cats. Her work is known worldwide. Her etchings with cats and dogs are highly valued at international auctions.

Very little is known about Meta Plückebaum, née Weber. She worked with her husband Carl Plückebaum, also a well-known artist. In the last photo you see the only known photograph of her (with her cats). (This photo is not included; it is privately owned)

In this rare small etching we have a girl with a kitten. The dress has been colored with watercolor (this has somewhat faded). In the lower right, fully signed Meta Plückebaum.

Dimensions: etching without frame approx. 5 cm x 6 cm. Framed dimensions 17 cm x 14 cm

Condition: in good condition, incl. original frame. The etching will of course be well packaged for shipment.

P.S.: After her death, her etching plates were reused for some time. These etchings are signed with Radierung von (rd.v.) Meta Pluckebaum. The original signature of her is not present on these later etchings.
