Two Taishō period Japanese cast‑iron chōshi sake kettles with copper loop handles and brass chrysanthemum knobs, measuring 14 cm high by 21.5 cm long by 14 cm deep, complete with their wooden storage box, in excellent original condition and tested for leaks.
Description from the seller
A pair of charming Japanese cast-iron sake kettles 銚子 (chôshi), of matching form.
The rounded bodies have a subtle orange-peel-like textured surface and are each raised on three small pointed feet. Both are fitted with warm-toned copper loop handles and removable iron lids, each surmounted by a brass chrysanthemum-shaped knob 菊 (kiku). The long projecting spouts are characteristically flattened towards the end.
Complete with their wooden storage box 箱 (hako).
Dimensions:
Height 14 cm, Length 21.5 cm, Depth 14 cm.
Period: Japan - Taishô period (1912-1926)
In very good antique condition with only minimal traces of wear consistent with age. Both kettles have been tested with water and showed no signs of leakage. Please refer to the photographs for a clear impression of the condition.
