Description from the seller
Founded in 1827 by George Ballantine in Edinburgh, it has become one of the world's most famous and best-selling blended Scotch whisky brands.
The malty heart of the Ballantine's blend comprises historic whiskies from prominent distilleries in the Speyside and Highland regions, including Glenburgie and Miltonduff.
The Flagon/Jug: In the 1970s and 1980s, Ballantine's created these iconic two-tone ceramic jugs, manufactured by renowned British potteries (such as Wade Ceramics). Packaged in elegant gold boxes and including a pouring stopper, they were designed for the premium gift market and for export.
Production and Bottling Year
Production period: Late 1970s / early 1980s.
Dating indicators:
Tax seal: The pink "Ufficio Tecnico Imposte di Fabbricazione" (Excise Tax Office) seal, featuring the inscription "litri 0,750" and a central star, clearly indicates importation and sale in Italy between the late 1970s and mid-1980s.
Packaging details: The gold box and the "Dumbarton, Scotland" inscription are characteristic of the vintage promotional editions distributed during that decade.
Tasting Notes
Aroma: Smooth and balanced; scents of acacia honey, red apples, vanilla, toasted cereals, and a very subtle vegetal, herbaceous note.
Palate: Round and velvety. Sweet flavors of milk chocolate, baked apple, and toffee, with a hint of oak and a touch of delicate spice.
Finish: Medium-length and clean, with pleasant lingering notes of sweet malt, vanilla, and a very faint hint of smoke in the background.
